How does ZAiKS work?

ZAiKS collects and distributes royalties to authors and other rights holders for the use of their works.

Acting for and on behalf of rights holders we license the use of creative works to companies, institutions and individuals who use creative works in the course of their activities. We then collect royalties for that use, and ensure that they flow to authors and creators.

ZAiKS holds a permit from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage to operate as a collective management organisation (similar to other collecting societies in Poland). This permit sets out the scope of collective management, with the Ministry performing a supervisory function.

ZAiKS operates under provisions set out in the relevant legal acts on societies and collective management, as well as in the statutes and resolutions of the Society.  

Founded by authors and composers in 1918, ZAiKS is a self-governing entity managed by its affiliated authors.
