Creative sectors are urging for regulation of generative AI before the mass use of such tools eliminates certain artistic professions from the market. Creators, such as translators and composers of background music, are already facing real competition from AI creations.
Therefore, the Society of Authors ZAiKS, acting on behalf of authors who have entrusted the protection of their works to the Society, declares a so-called "opt-out," i.e., a reservation of the rights the Society represents for the purpose of activities related to the training of AI systems on protected works by means of so-called text and data mining (TDM).
TDM opt-out: reservation of rights for the purpose of text and data mining
The Society of Authors ZAiKS hereby makes a reservation of its rights for the purpose of all activities constituting text and data mining. The reservation applies to all works, the rights to which are represented by the Society, to the extent that such works comprise, in whole or in part, any type of disseminated content.
Any acts of text and data mining carried out in relation to content that includes works, the rights to which are represented by the Society of Authors ZAiKS, without obtaining the Society’s authorization shall constitute an infringement of the copyright of rightsholders represented by the Society.
If you are developing AI tools and intend to train them using copyrighted content, then you want to have a proper license for such usage. How do you do it? The fastest way to get the necessary information is to write to internet@zaiks.org.pl.
How can I protect my works published online from TDM?
